Description The Senior Executive in Purchasing plays a vital role in ensuring stable parts procurement and cost competitiveness for Omron's semiconductor-related products. This role focuses on building strong relationships with global semiconductor manufacturers and optimizing purchasing processes, ultimately enhancing Omron's bargaining power and resilience to change in the fast-paced business environment. Key Responsibilities: Supplier Relationship Building:
  • Implement processes to build strong relationships with electronic parts suppliers in Asia Pacific, the US, and the EU regions.
  • Negotiate with electronic parts suppliers in these regions to secure supplies, ensure timely delivery, and optimize purchasing costs.
  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers to track order status, resolve issues, and gather supplier performance data.
Strategic Procurement:
  • Understand Omron's business situation in Asia Pacific, the US, and the EU, and the parts supply situation to proactively support Omron's manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and implement local processed parts suppliers to optimize purchasing costs and mitigate procurement risks due to geopolitical factors, regulatory requirements, or potential bankruptcy of current vendors (e.g., injection molding, PWB).
  • Keep information up-to-date regarding new and existing suppliers at Omron's manufacturing sites to minimize supplier-related risks (e.g., quality, regulated chemicals, bankruptcy).
Sustainable Procurement:
  • Develop and execute sustainable procurement strategies by conducting due diligence on factors such as human rights, carbon footprint, environmental concerns, and controls.
  • Crisis Management:
  • Coordinate and execute emergency remedies and permanent improvements for critical situations in collaboration with related parties across the Omron group.
Team Development:
  • Provide support and mentorship to develop local staff in the OMRON Asia Pacific purchasing/procurement team.
  • Performance Management:
  • Manage and achieve business objectives through key performance indicators (KPIs).

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in business or a relevant engineering field.
  • Education or certification in finance, accounting, ERP systems, or logistics is a plus.
  • 5+ years of working experience in sales/marketing at semiconductor manufacturers or purchasing/procurement of semiconductor parts.
  • Deep knowledge of semiconductor/electronic parts, including technology, market trends, and industry dynamics.
  • Strategic and critical thinking, decision-making skills, and high sensitivity to market changes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills in English.
  • Strong time management abilities.
